No matter how hard humans try to avoid it, conflict is inevitable. Perhaps the idea of a harmonious human race is nothing but an illusion. Nature is a story of struggle, fights and survival. This painting is about a pair of stallions in a fight. It is a dark horse versus a white horse; an ongoing narrative of good versus evil. The wide-open eyes and mouth of the dark horse are clear signals of distress whereas the smooth curves of the horse are signs of grace being attacked. The dark horse is on the attack but it only takes an instant for the white horse to get to the offence.
