JOHANNA  USKI

Intern - Art Sweven

Finnish by origin, living in Malta since 2015. I joined Art Sweven as I was finishing a vocational fine art degree at Pekka Halonen Academy in Finland.

Assisting at il-Kamra ta’ Fuq and Art Sweven has been the perfect continuation as I am learning a lot about running a gallery while being surrounded by inspirational art and diverse artists. I am glad to be part of the journey from the start to see the gallery growing and succeeding and I am equally grateful for the chance to work alongside Antoine Farrugia and Melanie Erixon as they are some of the most passionate and hard-working people I’ve ever met.

Furthermore, the vibrant art scene is one of the many reasons that keep me on the island!

Drawn to travelling, I left Finland at 19 and worked in France, Italy and UK, eventually graduating with French/Italian MA (Hons) from the University of Glasgow.  Apart from arts and culture, I enjoy events and I’ve had the chance to be part of some exciting events in the past while working for BBC Scotland, Associazione Musicale Etnea and The Finnish Institute in Rome, to name a few. The past few years I’ve focused on art studies and practice both in Malta and in Finland.
