Darren Tanti
Darren Tanti (b. 1987) is an artist renowned for his thematically rich and technically accomplished work. His practice focuses on hyperreality and the exploration of experimental techniques, including the hybridisation of digital and academic forms of art. Tanti has participated in numerous art projects and exhibitions in international contexts. Among his most prestigious exhibitions are Time, Space, Existence at Palazzo Mora during the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2014 (curated by AP), and Homo Melitensis, where he was one of the artists representing Malta at the Venice Art Biennale in 2017.
He has also taken part in all editions of the acclaimed APS Mdina Cathedral Contemporary Art Biennale. Tanti received widespread recognition for his major solo exhibitions, including Ahmar Ħelu u Qares (2021), Inaction is a Weapon of Mass Destruction (2022), Remember/Dismember (2023), and Apotheosis (2023). His works are held in numerous private collections in Malta and abroad, as well as in public institutions such as MUŻA and the Embassy of Malta in Washington, D.C.
As an educator, Tanti has over 15 years of experience across various educational levels. From 2016 to 2021, he served as Coordinator of Art and Fine Art, and he is currently a Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at the MCAST Institute for the Creative Arts. He also lectures on the Master in Teaching and Learning programme at the University of Malta.
