NATHAN PORTELLI

Nathan Portelli (b. 1988) is a visual artist from Gozo. He holds a degree in History of Art from the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Malta.

His deep connection to his homeland and his concern for humanity’s impact on it are the primary influences in his work. Currently, Portelli works predominantly with cement, using it to address the ongoing challenges to his nation’s identity — challenges driven by a society where values have been compromised by economic profitability, greed, and corruption. He engages with these reflections through the very material that continues to dominate and reshape his homeland, exploring both its possibilities and limitations as an artistic medium.

Nathan Portelli lives in Gozo and works between Malta and London.
