Gera
Madeleine Gera is a distinguished artist who studied painting under Prof. Joseph Briffa RA (Roma) and graduated from the University of Malta in 1986. In 1991, she was awarded a long-term scholarship to study Fine Art in Florence, Italy, at the Scuola di Arte Grafica, Il Bissonte. Her studies continued from 2002 to 2010 at The Angel Academy of Art in Florence and in various private ateliers, where she honed her skills in classical and academic painting. Gera also holds an MA in Philosophy from the University of Malta, with a thesis titled "The Concept of Beauty in 19th Century Maltese Painting."
Gera's career includes numerous solo and collective exhibitions both in Malta and internationally, with her work being showcased in Westchester County, New York, Florence, and at the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale, "Reporting from the Front." From 2006 to 2015, she operated Atelier Madeleine Gera on Republic Street, Valletta, an artist's studio dedicated to the instruction of portrait and figurative academic painting within the classical tradition. In 2007, she served as a consultant for Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti on the Edward Caruana Dingli Exhibition held at the President's Palace, Valletta.
