KATEL DELIA

Katel Delia, born in 1975 in France, has been living in Malta since 2016. She completed her DNSEP degree at the Beaux-Arts in Rennes in 1999. In 2000, she entered the internet boom as an artistic director and project manager. Her artistic career took off in 2015, with the creation of installations that combine photography, sculpture, and writing. Her work often explores how traces of the past echo in the present, particularly within the context of migration.

One of her photographic series was awarded the CAP Prize for Contemporary African Photography and the Maghreb Photography Awards. She has held solo exhibitions at Spazju Kreattiv, including Malta – Tunis – Marseille (2021) and Familja migrAzzjoni (2017). Her immersive photo installation The Last Breath, created at Il-Kamra ta’ Fuq, was exhibited at the Circulation(s) Festival in Paris and was a finalist for two Maltese awards: Premju Għall-Arti and ArtzID. Her work has also been featured in numerous festivals and group exhibitions in France, Malta, and Switzerland.

She recently published her first photobook, Malta – Tunis – Marseille.

Katel also leads creative photography workshops for a variety of audiences.
