CLINT CALLEJA

Clint Calleja’s (1983) recent artworks deal with the theme of collective and personal memory. Calleja is inspired by the recollection of past events, and how they shape us as a person and as a society. Memories can vary from fond ones to traumatic ones and remain imprinted in a scattered and blurry state in the consciousness. This state is reflected in the technique used in most of Calleja’s work, where various images are layered on top of each other, constantly manipulating them by erasing and adding more layers. This manipulation of layers is associated with the play of memories in our consciousness.
